NeoCrema Co., Ltd. was selected on May 17 as a research participant for the project "Development of culture fluid for cultivated meat muscle stem cells and securing economic feasibility," which is one of the 19 designated tasks under the 'High-Value Food Technology Development and Future Response Food Technology Development' initiative overseen by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

This government research project focuses not only on developing industrial technology for promising future food sectors and preparing for the post-COVID era, but also on strengthening the competitiveness of the domestic food industry and driving the global growth of K-Food by laying the foundation for creating new industries.

Cultivated meat refers to meat that mimics the form and texture of conventional meat through the special environmental cultivation process of animal cells (primarily muscle stem cells) to meet the predicted shortages in global protein and meat demand due to population growth worldwide. Currently, research for the commercialization of cultivated meat is actively underway across the globe.

NeoCrema Co., Ltd. plans to develop and localize essential ingredients required for medium development essential for cultivated meat production. Upon completion of the five-year research and development project, we intend to supply these materials not only to cultivated meat producers but also to high-value biopharmaceutical companies producing antibodies and vaccines.
